We all know we should be meditating.

It’s one of the most beneficial things we can do to improve mental health and general well-being. It also seems to be one of the hardest habits to start and continue. If you’re finding it difficult to set aside specific time to meditate then give some of these a go. Here are 5 simple methods to bring mindfulness into as many aspects of your daily life as possible.

1.

Make an effort to choose to start your day, rather than letting the day start without you. Get up at the same time each morning and take a few breaths with one hand on your tummy and one on your heart, before you get out of bed.

2.

Listen to this song every morning: Burgs – mt.wolf and focus on your breath for the duration of the track.

3.

Put down your phone and pick up a book. A few from my hit list: The Power of Crystal HealingJudgement DetoxThe Kind Worth Killing & The Couple next Door.

4.

Try to not listen to music or spend time on your phone for one of your commuting journeys a day. Instead, use this time to breathe, be aware of the people around you or reflect on the day.

5.

Do one thing at a time — set aside your multi-tasking ability and just focus on the task in hand. When you’re mindful about this, you are ultimately more efficient as you’ll be making less mistakes and will save yourself from feeling worn out or tense.

Mindfulness can seem complicated but really, it’s just being in the moment, whatever moment that is for you. Any moment it’s possible to be mindful, these are some of the easier ones to begin with. As we practice with these it becomes easier to be mindful in times of stress.
